London Fashion Week 2017 is one of the most important events in the global fashion calendar. All of the world’s top designers, models, and bloggers descend on the capital for a week of designer runway shows, couture reveals, and trendsetting. This year was one of the biggest yet and we were there to find out what the top autumn/winter trends are for 2017. Here’s what we discovered.
This winter, it’s all going to be about complementary block colours. Match a cobalt blue skirt with an oxblood jumper, or a spearmint coat with dark purple boots. Think rich, warm autumnal colours and don’t be afraid to experiment.
You might think velvet is very…outdated, but trust us, it doesn’t seem to going anywhere. The runway was full of velvet offerings in London this year, where everything from the maxi dress to the bomber jacket was getting the velvet treatment. Our top tip for this trend, stay out of the rain!
William Morris Florals
William Morris is one of the most influential textile designers in British history. His floral prints have returned, season after season, to the latest fashion and 2017 is no different. Garments with wallpaper floral prints were big news in London, from quilted coats to satin gowns.
That’s right, 2017 is the year that women’s tweed becomes sexy. London offered lots of examples of this trend, with form-fitting silhouettes and cropped midriffs, tweed is now very, very sensual. Creating a slightly androgynous look, these modern designs offset the masculine fabric with very feminine cuts; clean, tight lines and daring structures.
